Iberoarte Opens its Doors in Holguin

The Iberoarte 2017 Artisan’s Fair opened its doors on Friday in Expo-Holguin Center in that eastern city with the participation of exhibitors from 10 countries which will run until October 29th.

Artisans from Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, India, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil and Spain will be participating in the exhibition with vases, bags and traditional costumes, like ponchos used by the indigenous population to protect themselves from the cold.

Handbags, shoes, bracelets, necklaces and mirrors, furniture and wooden pieces will complete the colorful exhibition and will be part of the activities for the Ibero-Americna year of Arts and Crafts.

Yamile Escalona, member of the Organizing Committee, told ACN that the Fair will have collateral cultural and recreational options among them expositions, fashion show, talks and children’s workshops.

Iberoarte is held each year since 2001 in the Cuban city of Holguin and shares its activities with the Ibero-American Culture Fiesta, a gathering of the region’s ancestral traditions.
