Philip Topolovac, “ART FAIRS Award”

ArtFairs, as the company that organizes and promotes art fairs, such as JUSTMAD and MADRIDFOTO, pursues the goal of encouraging and fostering new artists. Its top peculiarity is no doubt the jury, made up of a number of celebrated and recognized artists.

The third edition of the ART FAIRS Award, with a 2,000-euro prize, features a jury with such heavyweights as Joan Morey, Mateo Maté and Sandra Gamarra. The jurors voted for artist Philip Topolovac, presented by Invaliden 1 Gallery in Berlin.

The jury backed up its vote, underscoring “the perfect execution of his conceptual ideas and admirable career, in spite of being a young artist. The other finalists were Alejandro Leonhardt, from the Local Arte Contemporáneo Gallery in Santiago de Chile, and Alejandro Flores, from the EspiRA Adrede Gallery in Managua, Nicaragua.

Philip Topolovac was born in Würzburg in 1979. He studied at the Berlin University of Arts from 2001 to 2008, and got a master degree at Christiane Möbus in 2009. He lives and works in Berlin, where he founded the TÄT Group with a dozen other artists in 2007. The TÄT Exhibition Hall in Schönhauser Allee serves as a gallery, run together with the Berlin University of Arts.
