INDEX Performance International Festival at Dominican Republic’s MAM

The Ministry of Culture, by means of the Museum of Modern Art, is set to open the seventh edition of INDEX Performance International Festival on Thursday April 10, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., with the participation of artists from the Dominican Republic, Miami and Puerto Rico.

 

This project, which kicks off on Thursday 10 at the MAM and comes to an end on Friday 11 at Quinta Dominicana, is produced by Edge Zones and headed by Charo Oquet, Director of the Miami Performance International Festival, who will be developing a two-day comprehensive program of artistic events, including performance art, sonorous performances, video screening, workshops and happenings.

 

Some of the artists to attend the event: +RoN, Lina Aybar, Jenna Balfe, Pip Brant, Anny Concepción, Cubo, Sebastian Duncan-Portuondo, Sole Fermín, Liz Ferrer, Carla Forte, Jessica Hirst, Eliu Almonte, Sayuri Guzmán, Karlo Ibarra, Brookhard Jounquil, Marilyn Loddi, Alberto Khoury, Mo(ho)³, Jochi Muñoz, Charo Oquet, Glynn Nash, Alexéi Tellerías, Abril Troncoso, Nancy Vizcaíno, Pioneer Winter, Jay Yapor and Iris Pérez.

 

INDEX promotes international cultural exchange by increasing the dialogue, mutual understanding and the development of audiences focused on contemporary art. Furthermore, it puts together experimental performance works developed by professionals from three countries, who explore present matters and will be showing the finest art from Florida and the Caribbean within a new international context.

 

The Museum of Modern Art is open to the public from Tuesdays to Sundays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and it’s nestled in Pedro Henríquez Ureña Av., Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, Santo Domingo.
