Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center shows Agustín Cárdenas’ A Thousand Shapes of Silence

Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center is set to open Cuban sculptor Agustín Cárdenas’ The Shapes of Silence (Las formas del silencio) on April 11.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for Cuban artistic culture since it’s an approach to a revealing show of the dimension of this Cuban artist, who synthesized the genesis of Africa and Europe with his passion and mastery of shapes.

A necessary and indispensable show on a Paris-based artist who, with his rooted blackness, free and independent style, transcendentally gave volume and sensuality, rhythm and mystery to artworks that made him stand as a benchmark on Cuban sculptural art.

Las formas del silencio”, which includes 24 sculptures (wood, marble and bronze) and 8 drawing created by Cárdenas, has been organized by Vallois Gallery and Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center and represents a well-deserved tribute to one of the greatest Cuban sculptors of the 20th century.
