I Love VideoArt: Camaguey’s International Video ArtFestival

FIVAC will be included within the program for the 6th Cuban Contemporary Art Workshop, organized by the Visual Arts Development Center in Havana. The call for the 6th edition of Camaguey’s International Video Art Festival (FIVAC is the Spanish acronym) is going to be issued on April 21.

That will set the starting point for a series of activities to be carried out through June 22 so as to celebrate the Video Art Day in Cuba, an initiative promoted by OpticaFestival, Gijon, Spain.

The program to be developed on Monday 21 includes a talk at the Conference Hall of CDAV, with the presence of specialists that are going to participate in FIVAC, along with artists and organizers of the event, at 4:00 p.m.

Furthermore, as part of the celebration, some works that have competed in previous editions of the festival are going to be displayed at Havana’s CDAV, 7:30 p.m., and FIVAC Office in Camagüey, 9:00 p.m.

The first FIVAC call was announced in Camagüey on April 21, 2008, supported by UNEAC. However, since the 3rd edition of the event is has been sponsored by the Visual Arts Council. The experience of half a decade of work has driven the organizing committee of FIVAC to announce the sponsorship by Camagüey’s Provincial Culture Department for the 6th edition of the event, with multi-sectorial character.

The invitation is up for musicians, actors, actresses, dancers and all artists interested in the most experimental video-creation, to meet on April 21 in both cities.
