Artemisa.-  The self-portrait, genre little used by visual arts creators, marked the difference during the opening of the arts exhibit   Soy Artemisa, an exhibit that meant the reopening of the  Angerona gallery in Artemisa province.

The center, which was closed to the public for several months due to renovation works, will be exhibiting until late August the works of 32 creators that do not follow the dogmas Modernism imposed and try to rescue the iconographic self- definition, according to arts critic Jorge Rivas.

He added that each work has its particularity and corresponds to the individual psychology of the participants, who recreate their own speech about love, man evolution, technological development, existential anguish, dreams, naiveties and several human attitudes.

The ideas show up are captured and reflected using different techniques, on canvas or cardboard, through sculpture, photography, installation or performance, commented photographer Alejandro Ávila to AIN news service.

He emphasized the need to continue to rescue, not only the self-portrait, but also other genres like, the portrait, landscape and still life.
