Edouard Malingue Gallery at Art Basel HK 2016

Edouard Malingue Gallery is thrilled to announce its participation in the Galleries and Encounters sectors of Art Basel Hong Kong 2016.

In the Galleries sector (Booth 3C09) Edouard Malingue Gallery will display a selection of works by Yuan Yuan (b. 1972, China), Wang Wei (b. 1972, China), Ko Sin Tung (b. 1987, Hong Kong), Jeremy Everett (b. 1979, USA) and Wong Ping (b. 1984, Hong Kong). Brought together under the thematic of intimacy,  Yuan Yuan will present a new painting related to an indistinct private interior, Wang Wei will exhibit a major floor installation accompanied by photographs of a past intervention whilst Ko Sing Tung will display several new mixed media pieces related to domesticity. On a more direct level, Jeremy Everett will exhibit a delicate painting accompanied by crystallised porn magazines while in a hidden corridor, Wong Ping presents an animation film related to teenage sexual drive.

In the Encounters sector (E1), at the very entrance to Art Basel Hong Kong 2016, Edouard Malingue Gallery will present the major installation ‘Private Riots’ (2014 - 16) by Indonesian collective Tromarama (est. in 2006 in Bandung by Febie Babyrose, Ruddy Hatumena and Herbert Hans). Composed of a flash sequence video, a platform and towering floor-to-ceiling swirl of seemingly playful protest banners, the monumental creation presents how the trio playfully observe the rapidly evolving dynamics of urban Indonesian culture.
