Cuba's Lizt Alfonso Ballet to Return to U.S. Stages

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Lizt Alfonso Ballet, one of the most prestigious dance companies of the island, will return to U.S. stages with the show Cuba Vibra, as part of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the founding of the troupe.

 


The company, directed by Professor Lizt Alfonso, who founded the group in 1991, will carry out its 9th tour of the United States from October to November, and will perform in the cities of Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Lewiston, Sheboygan, Statesville and San Luis Obispo, the director of the company told Prensa Latina on Friday.

 


Celebrations will last until December, 2017, when the vocational workshops the company has offered -educational workshops hat have guaranteed the training of over 1,000 children by way of community work- will also mark 25 years of existence, expressed Alfonso.

 


This fiesta will begin with a show scheduled for October 25 at Havana's Karl Marx Theater and with the opening of the Havana- New York- Havana photographic exhibition, by Colombian photographer Eduardo Patiño, who lives in the United States.

 


She also argued that the exhibition will include snapshots of the Lizt Alfonso Ballet during its presentations in the Big Apple and in Havana.

 


Likewise, she announced the premiere of the video entitled No, which she directed, with music by singer David Blanco and the Vocal Luna Choir, which reflects sacrifice, perseverance and passion for dance.
