First Edition of the Excelencias Mexico Awards

As a recognition of tourism in Mexico, on Tuesday, March 28, the Excelencias Awards were presented within the framework of the Tourism Tianguis in Mexico.The jury presented the prize to Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, for positioning the country in the eighth place of the world travel ranking.

Jose Carlos de Santiago, president of Grupo Excelencias, said that Mexico has been the most recognized country with the Excelencias Awards over the past five years, and that is why a decision was made to deliver the awards to the Aztec nation.

 



After recognizing that Mexico is viewed in Europe as a country laden with traditions, great gastronomy, travel destinations and hospitable people, Mr. José Carlos de Santiago underscored the professionalization of Mexican travel industry’s stakeholders and sectors, which renders in world-class companies and tourism products, and that derived in the distinction presented to the Mexican President.

 



Meanwhile, Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, stressed that under Mr. Peña Nieto’s administration, Mexico has made significant progress in the number of foreign visitors.

 

He also emphasized that through programs like "We Travel All Over Mexico", the various segments of the national tourism industry have been strengthened.

 

Before special guests, delegates of countries, representatives of state and municipal governments, as well as national and international press, an Excelencias Award was also presented to the state of Chiapas.

 

In this first edition of the Excelencias México Awards, held at the Imperial World Convention Center, the prize was awarded to Secretary of Tourism of Chiapas, Mario Alberto Uvence.

 

The decision of the jury valued the advanced elaboration of the new Law of Tourism of the state that managed to transform the legislation on this respect, thus empowering the business travel sector as a new reference in the democratization of the decision-making within this niche.

 

Víctor Hugo Rodríguez, president of Grupo Editorial Águeda and organizer of the event with the Excelencias Group, expressed his approval for Mexico's achievements in tourism and pointed out that the alliance that Águeda has forged with the Excelencias Group is proof that one of the strengths of the Mexican people is knowing how and when to recognize their potential, beauties and culture to share with the rest of the world.

 

It must be noted that the Excelencias México Awards maintain the high standards in the qualification criteria that have given the wards prestige in its Spanish edition, where they are delivered annually in the course of the local International Tourism Fair (FITUR).
