Washington.- The performance by the National Ballet of Cuba at the John F. Kennedy Center represents the return of the renowned company to the stage that witnessed its premiere in the United States 40 years ago, said this cultural institution today.
The John F. Kennedy Center, in Washington D.C., reiterated in a press release that the National Ballet of Cuba, directed by prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, will perform from May 29 to June 3 at the Opera House, where the group will stage Giselle and Don Quixote.
The performances by the National Ballet of Cuba will close the festival Arts from Cuba: From the island to the world, which will open at the John F. Kennedy Center on May 8 with the participation of more than 200 Cuban artists living in Cuba and abroad.
Gilda Almeida, director of International Programs of the Center, told recently Prensa Latina that all the halls of the institution, including nine theaters, will host the event, which envisages the participation of 200 to 250 volunteers.
According to Almeida, those attending the event will have a unique opportunity to appreciate the best of Cuban theater, music, film, dance, visual arts and cuisine.
