Laurence Jenkell travels to New York for one year

At the request of the Port Authority of NY & NJ, the French artist Laurence Jenkell will exhibit her famous candy sculptures for a solo show "Crossroads of the World" which will begin mid-December in New York for a period of one year at the Port Authority Terminal Bus located in Manhattan one block west of Times Square, between 8th Avenue and 9th Avenue, and between 40th Street and 42nd Street.

This mythical site, inaugurated in 1950, is jointly controlled by the Governors of New York and New Jersey, and handles most of the transportation under the jurisdiction of the Ports of New York and New Jersey. The terminal also serves as a terminus and departure point for suburban buses, including those operating in New Jersey (approximately 7,200 buses), and serves as a connection to many of New York's subway lines.

In the context of their renovation project the Port Authority has planned investments that will allow them to become a renowned cultural and artistic center of New York in the next ten years. They called upon Laurence Jenkell, the first artist invited to create a contemporary art course in the Port Authority Bus Terminal to introduce New York City to the artist's collection of sculptures, Candy Flags, first exhibited at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. G20 summit in Cannes in 2011, then in the rest of the world (Andorra, Aspen, Beirut, Dubai, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Miami, Monaco, Paris, Beijing, Dubai, Seoul, Singapore, Valencia ...)

A showroom will be dedicated to her inside the Bus Terminal and will allow the public (200,000 people a day, 73 million people throughout the year) to discover a retrospective of works unique pieces of this well-known French artist on the international contemporary art scene.
