Zaida del Río, one of the most important figures in Cuban art

Zaida del Rio is one of the most important figures in Cuban art. She studied at the National School of Art (1971-1974), in the High Institute of Art (1982-1987) and at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris, France (1988-1989).

She has made thirty personal exhibitions in Cuba, Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, Martinique, Japan, India and the United States, and participated in numerous national and international competitions and exhibitions.

She holds the Lithography Prize for the Engraving National Encounter Havana 1984; Gold Medal Award for Painting, Biennial Cairo, Egypt, 1993; Painting Prize, Biennial Tenri, Japan, 1997, among more than a dozen laurels.

Her work is in collections at the International Exhibition of Graphic, Rome, Italy; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Cuenca, Ecuador; ; Guayasamín Foundation, Cuenca, Ecuador; Center of Cuba Studies, New York, USA; Unesco building, Mexico DF .; Chateau Lormen, Tabasco, France; Mapri Museum (Pinar del Río, Cuba); Museum of Decorative Arts in Santa Clara (Villa Clara, Cuba); and in Havana, Cuba, in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, in the Melia Cohiba hotel, Museum of Ceramics, Bello Caribe hotel, Dance Museum and Casa de las Americas.
