Maykel Herrera

(Havana, 1976)
He graduated from Professional School of Plastic Arts in Camaguey, specializing in Painting and Drawing in 1998.

He has over thirty solo exhibitions and has taken part in many collective projects.

His work is included in private collections in Germany, France, Spain, United States, Switzerland, Denmark, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, Italy, England, Bahamas, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Costa Rica, Andorra, Argentina, Japan, China, Holland, Belgium, Lebanon and Brazil, among other countries.

He won the World Quality Commitment Award for Quality, Innovation and Excellence in Gold Category, the IDB Paris International Convention in France, 2014

Being very young, one of his works--- Desnudo de Juan Pablo II--- is chosen for the special magazine that, during the Pope's visit to Cuba in 1998, was published in our country. He has taught workshops in Drawing, Painting and Art Appreciation in community projects in Vertientes (Camagüey) and Havana, and institutions from around the world. He taught drawing and painting to students of 3rd. and 4th. years at the Professional School of Plastic Arts in Camaguey. He has worked as a curator in personal and collective exhibitions inside and outside of Cuba.

Vasili Kandinsky has said about him ("Concerning the Spiritual in Art"): "He is an artist who narrates existential situations and transmits mental and emotional states. This is the discursive guideline that has consistently guided his entire career to date. "
