Cuban Symphonic Orchestra Dedicates Special Program to Intl Book Fair

The National Symphonic Orchestra (OSN) of Cuba will dedicate today a special program to the 27th edition of the Havana International Book Fair and the 30th anniversary of the artistic career of the saxophonist César López.

The absolute premiere of two pieces by the guest of honor was prepared, as well as other music from the composer's repertoire, will take place at Teatro Nacional de Cuba's Covarrubias Hall.

López will share the stage with the Cuban saxophonist Miguel Villafruela and they will perform solo pieces.

Conducted by Maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa, the OSN will play 'Elegía de Daichonin' and the Cuban Concert for two saxophones and symphony, both composed by César López. The program also includes a segment of classical music.

'Concertino Primo', for soprano saxophone and string orchestra; and 'La Protesta', for soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, string orchestra and percussion, will be performed by the OSN.

The 27th edition of the Havana International Book Fair dedicates this event to Dr. Eusebio Leal Splengler, the historian of Havana and China as a guest of honor.
