21st Intl. Handicraft Fair Fiart 2017 Summoned

Havana, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Fund of Cultural Goods (FCBC) summoned today the 21st International Handicraft Fair Fiart 2017, scheduled for next December as part of the Iberoamerican Year of Handicraft to be commemorated in 2018.

The same as in previous editions, organizers extend the invitation to Cuban and foreign artisans whose work is expression of handicraft creation and the cultural identity of their countries of origin.

It is the interest of the Fund, says the press reléase, to exhibit pieces representative of techniques and styles that are an expression of identity and cultural tradition of the different regions of the world, as well as to highlight the role of handicrafts in the new scenarios of economic and social development.

The fair grounds of Pabexpo, west of the Cuban capital will open from December 5 thru 17 and its collateral program will include exchanges between suppliers and exporters and there will be theoretical meetings related to the development of contemporary handicraft.

Under the premise of Art, utility and trade, Fiart 2017 will be dedicated to the southeastern province of Santiago de Cuba and the creations in glass as artistic manifestation, and according to organiozers, it hopes to consolidate in a hub of exchange on the development of handicraft in the world.

The FCBC will receive applications of participation until September 10.
