(Parentesis) for Luis Adelantado

Luis Adelantado, Spanish gallery owner that has maintained a close relation with Mexican contemporary art for 15 years, proposes for this year the extension of his second seat (Mexico) to 800 square meters. It seems that the space in Valencia, Spain, which was previously founded, is not as strong as the one created in 2009: “Mexico is a good place for art, the people want to know, a collecting feeling is emerging…”, Adelantado said to EL UNIVERSAL.

The gallery was inaugurated on January 24 with (Parentesis), an exhibition conceived by young curator Octavio Avendaño that includes the work of nine creators of ages between 25 and 60 years: Tamara Ibarra, Diego Perez, Roberto Turnbull, Felix Luna, Jason Mena, Yollotl Gomez Alvarado in collaboration with Andres Villalobos, Omar Vega Macotela, Omero Leyva and Alfredo Mendoza.

(Paréntesis)puts the notion of “artist’s project” under strain, understood as a negotiation ground for creators who face the world as artistic subjects and, at the same time, as social subjects.
