The 1980s in Latin America were characterized by a tough political situation. This reality has been also observed from art and is presently showcased at Madrid’s Reina Sofia Museum.
Perder la forma humana. Una imagen sismica de los años ochenta en America Latina is the title of the exhibition, with the guardianship by Red Conceptualismos del Sur. More than six hundred artworks are being exhibited –photography, videos, sound records, graphic and documental material, installations and drawings– which despite the label don’t try to give the last word on the topic, since the joint isn’t conceived as a panoramic, but it does invite to revisit a series of “micro-histories”.
The exhibition is going to be displayed in Peru in November at Lima’s Museum of Art, and it will be also traveling through Chile, Argentina and Mexico.
