MAM Showcases 5 Fine Arts Exhibitions within the Framework of 2013 Santo Domingo International Book Fair

The Museum of Modern Art will be hosting five displays as a part of the comprehensive program of 2013 Santo Domingo 16th International Book Fair, an event coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and the heads of the IBF. 

 

Exhibits “Cifuentes: y sin embargo se mueve”, “Ilustres Ilustradores” and “Statu Quo” are going to be opened on Wednesday April 24, at 7:00 p.m.

 

The first one, “Cifuentes: y sin embargo se mueve”, by Ecuadorian photographer Diego Cifuentes, who shares his love for photography with experimental movies. “Ilustres Ilustradores”, also from Ecuador, gathers the most acclaimed illustrators from that country. Last but not least, “Statu Quo”, a video-creators display is made up of twenty contemporary Dominican artists: Tomas Pichardo, Joery Santos, Jen Gamundy & Candy Pichardo, Juan Carlos Guzman, Francisco (Pancho) Rodriguez, Marcos Lora Read, Elvin Diaz, Citlally Miranda and Raul Morilla. As well as Limber Vilorio, Stephanie Marie Jimenez, Guadalupe Casasnovas, Alina Landry-Rancier, Carlos Acero, Joiri Minaya,  Alfonsina Sterling, Engel Leonardo, Jose Pion, Quisqueya Henriquez and Ignacio  Alcantara.

 

On Saturday 27th, at 7:00 p.m., Miguelina Rivera is scheduled to present her “Traces”, in which the Dominican artist that won the Expositive Award of the 1st International Triennial of the Caribbean, a magnificent representative of Dominican contemporary art, will be exhibiting paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations.

 

Also on the 27th, photography enthusiasts will have the opportunity to admire “Un Libro Llamado Cancion: Fotografias de Daniel Mordzinski", in which the Paris-based French-Argentinean artist pays tribute to musicians from every corner of Earth.

 

Santo Domingo IBF is the main cultural event of the Caribbean, annually held and organized by the Ministry of Culture, at Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Square, and this time it will be taking place from April 22 to May 5. 

 

The exhibits are going to be open to viewers throughout the International Book Fair at the Dominican Republic’s Museum of Modern Art, at Av. Pedro Henriquez Ureña, Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Square, Mondays to Sundays 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. and, starting on May 5, Tuesdays to Sundays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
