Valencia’s Mainel Foundation Calls for 2013 Painting Prize

Mainel Foundation, from Valencia, calls its 16th Painting Prize for young artists. The prize represents one of the most important activities for the Foundation, mainly because of its prestigious jury and its 16 years of existence.

The economic worth of Mainel Foundation’s Painting Prize is not its most remarkable element. The jury is the one to be highlighted, since it’s annually made up of acclaimed figures from the world of art and experts on this matter; as well as the publication of a catalogue and the showcase of award-wining works at the Foundation’s venue.

This edition’s jury will consist of Roman de la Calle, an Aesthetics professor from the University of Valencia and President of San Carlos’ Royal Academy of Fine Arts; Carmen Gracia, Art History professor from the University of Valencia; Manuel Martinez, Fine Arts director for Mainel Foundation; Jose Maria Yturralde, artist; and Jorge Sebastian, director of Mainel Foundation, who will be acting as secretary.

The works can be sent to the venue in Valencia, May 27 – 31. The Prize is worth 3,000 euros, and 10 honorable mentions are going to be handed to 10 young artists, whose works will be accompanying the winner one during the exhibition and will be included on the catalogue.

The jury’s decision –there is no right of appeal against it– is going to be published on Friday June 7 on Mainel Foundation’s website.
