Cultural Festival Romerías de Mayo in Cuba Pays Tribute to Fidel

Holguín, Cuba.- Several events within the Romerias de Mayo (May Pilgrimages) evoked today the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to whom the event is dedicated.

The provincial library Alex Urquiola hosted a photographic exhibition on the feelings of the Cuban people during the funeral honors of one of the key personalities in the 20th Century's history, who died on November 25 in Havana.

The set of photos, belonging to the Cuban magazine La Jiribilla, illustrates how the people reacted in each province of the country before the caravan transporting Fidel's ashes.

The authors of the images, Daniela Muñoz and Jorge Ricardo Ramírez, studied at the University of the Arts (ISA), and were able to capture countless signs of respect and affection for the man loved on this island as a revolutionary leader and human being.

In the library, a group of young people listen once again to Cabalgando con Fidel, a sensitive composition of troubadour Raul Tórres, interpreted by him and vocalists Luna Manzanares, Eduardo Sosa and Annie Garces, with which they tour several provinces.

For his part, the counselor of the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Limia, opened the Bloguerías de Mayo space, in the provincial library, with a conference on the cultural battle in today's Cuba, in which he warned of a disinformation campaign against the island.

While in the halls of Pernik hotel, Holguin, a group of intellectuals participate in a panel discussion on the influence of humanistic thinking of Fidel and Che in youth.

The 24th edition of the cultural festival will conclude on May 8 and is dedicated to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution; to the Heroic Guerrilla, Ernesto Che Guevara; and the young rebels of the world.
