British Critics Circle Recognizes Cuban Dancer Carlos Acosta's Career

Carlos Acosta London.- The Critics Circle of Great Britain granted a National Dance Award to Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta in recognition for his achievements during a lifetime devoted to art.

 

The 15th edition of the British Dance Awards recognized the National English Ballet, directed by special Spanish dancer Tamara Rojo, as the most prominent company in 2014.

 

A work defended by that company, Dust, by British choreographer Akram Khan, also won the award to the best modern choreography, while Russian dancer Natalia Osipova was the best dancer for her performance of Giselle, along with Acosta at the Royal Ballet of London.

 

Acosta has developed most of his career in the European country, as the main artist of the Royal Ballet of London since 1998, and invited of the English National Ballet in some seasons.

 

Acosta announced some months ago that he would leave classical style in 2015, after the premiere of a own version of Carmen, in September.

 

The Prince of Gales conferred the Cuban dancer the title of Commander of the British Empire in 2014, and during the ceremony at the Buckingham Palace, he praised the artist for having become an inspiration for humble youth.
