The 18th edition of the Festival de Málaga. Film Spanish, which this year takes place from 17 to 26 April, has awarded the Málaga-South Prize Antonio de la Torre, this award, that comes with the collaboration of South journal, is given annually to an actor or actress with a long and successful career.
Martin Antonio de la Torre, graduated in Journalism but always knew that I wanted to devote to interpretation. He worked in Canal Sur Radio and later on Canal Sur TV, presenting the sports news of the weekend, but during this last professional stage was traveling every weekend to Madrid to follow different courses of interpretation and study in school Cristina Rota.
The first role he played was The Worst Years of Our Lives (1994) by Emilio Martínez Lázaro. On television it was his success in the miniseries Father Courage playing the role of Loren although it had also participated in full please hit series played by Alfredo Landa, in Antena 3.
It is one of the regular players in Spanish short films, including the first made by director Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, (prophylaxis or Physics II) who then tell him to one of the lead roles in his first film, Dark Blue Almost Black ( 2006), by which won the Goya for Best Supporting Actor in 2007. Another of his regular directors is Álex de la Iglesia, who has had him in most of his films (Laughing Dead in 1999, the community in 2000 , As Luck Would Have It ...) as a side, but it was in 2010 when he made his first starring role in the film director from Bilbao Last Circus, earning a Goya nomination.
In 2009 he starred in the second film Sánchez Arévalo, Gordos, a comedy about the excesses and deficiencies of life and our insecurities. De la Torre had to fatten 33 kilos to give life to his character, Enrique. For this role he was rewarded with his second Goya nomination. In the following years he participated in several films, most notably The Island Inside (2009), Lope (2010), a biographical story of Lope de Vega, and Cousins ??(2011), again with Daniel Sánchez Arévalo.
In December 2008 he starred in his first theatrical production in a production of the National Drama Centre: The fantastic tavern of Alfonso Sastre and directed by Gerardo Malla.
He has also worked on two films directed by Pedro Almodóvar Back and I'm So Excited and Manuel Martín Cuenca Half of Oscar and Cannibal, receiving for this work the award as best actor for "Fierce Awards", the "Circle of Writers Film "and" Spanish Film Festival Toulouse ", besides being nominated for best actor at the Goya Awards.
In 2012, he was nominated twice for the Goya as best actor and an actor cast for roles in Group 7 and Invader.
He has also worked in two foreign productions playing their characters in English with Gerard Depardieu United Passions and directed by Frédéric Auburtin and Jim Loach Untitled Project, directed by Jim Loach.
His recent work has been in the low island led by Alberto Rodriguez, I talk led by Joaquín Oristrell and Happy 140 directed by Gracia Querejeta.
