Estampa announces guest artist of the XXVII edition

Daniel Canogar (Madrid, 1964) will be the guest artist of the next edition of the Estampa contemporary art fair, which will be held between October 17 and 20 at the IFEMA exhibition center. From April 22 to June 15, the registration period will be open so that galleries interested in applying to the fair can present their projects.

Daniel Canogar, a Spanish-American artist with great international projection, has been researching new media and support since 1993 - from the projection of light through optic fiber devices to the sculptural torsion of LED screens - to reveal an analysis of the changes that the technological impact has in our society, in the effects on the climate, the global economy and the different social behaviors that all this entails.

Daniel Canogar, has done several works in public spaces, among which stand out Waves permanently installed in the atrium of the Houston Center in Houston; Crossings, made for the atrium of the Council of the European Union in Brussels and Constellations, the largest photographic mosaic in Europe in the Madrid River Park. Among his latest projects Storming Times Square stands out, a video intervention in 47 of the screens of Times Square. His works have been exhibited at the Reina Sofia National Art Center Museum, the Velázquez Palace, Madrid; Museum of Natural History, New York; Andy Warhol Museum and Mattress Factory Museum, Pittsburgh, among others.

Estampa presents in this edition new curated sections. On one hand, Ángel Calvo Ulloa (Lalin, Pontevedra, 1984) poses The Conscience of Things, a selection of galleries whose artists propose their practice from a perspective of the return to the profession. On the other hand, Bruno Leitao (Lisbon, 1979), under the title Meridiano Cero, will gather a selection of Portuguese galleries that are launching new ways of conceiving galleries in Portugal. For her part, Alicia Ventura (Valencia, 1965) wants to rethink in a special section in Estampa the current state of photography in our country, in a section entitled What happens with photography?

The ESTAMPA fair, which this year is organized again in collaboration with IFEMA at Feria de Madrid, remains true to its mission of creation, promotion and dissemination of the art market in our country, giving priority to collecting and to the Spanish and Portuguese gallery, to disseminate and promote it to collectors and professionals outside our borders through its international guest programs. As usual, both the General Gallery Program and the curated programs will be advised by a committee made up of private collectors, purchasing managers, and curators of contemporary art collections in our country.

This year, ESTAMPA strengthens our National and International Collectors Program, with a special invitation to private collectors, consultants and collections managers, institutional directors and market professionals and collectors from all over Europe. In addition, for the third year, the program of residencies and international curators of the Estampa 2019 Curatorial Program will be held, whose main objective is to promote and effectively communicate the artists represented by our galleries.

The prizes in purchases and residences, meetings and professional forums, in addition to the programs of visits and relations with the public will have a greater presence than in previous editions to insist on the commitment of public and private collecting, and of our professionals with the market of art in Spain.
