The program will begin on February 12, with the inauguration of “Sherezade”, site specific work created by Patxi Araújo for the facade of Medialab Prado, an interactive piece that proposes “a game with the public, through the random generation of sentences and phrases according to the viewer's position in the front square of the facade”.

During that week, Medialab Prado will also host master classes with Patxi Araújo, Olga Diego and Lois Patiño, who will delve into his work and talk about the creation and artistic research that runs around new forms of communication.

For its part, Sala Alcalá 31 will host on February 20 a round table that will discuss the evolution of the fixed image in contemporary culture until reaching the new media; Rafael Doctor (independent curator and cultural manager), Karin Ohlenschläger (critic, curator and director of activities of LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation) and Berta Sichel (cultural agent and curator director of Bureauphi Art Agency) will participate.

Finally, in this cycle of previous activities, Art Madrid will organize on Saturday February 22 a visit to the artist Eduardo Balanza's workshop.

As a novelty, this year during the fair (February 26-March 1), a stand will be reserved for presentations, projections and performances with this theme. Thus, its organizers intend to "turn the month of February into a true celebration of the most current and dynamic contemporary art."

Every afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., there will be meetings with prominent artists from the field of video creation such as Abelardo Gil-Fournier, Fernando Baena, Mario Santamaría and Maia Navas.

Later, at 8:00 p.m., Art Madrid will give way to action art, a term coined by the performer Allan Kaprow, offering the public a unique and unforgettable experience: attending live audiovisual performances by artists with great international recognition.

In addition, during the five days of the fair (of which Arte por Excelencias is Media Partner) you can enjoy a series of projections, also curated by Mario Gutiérrez Cru, which will bring the best selection of pieces from the most outstanding international video art festivals of the world panorama.

In its 15th edition, Art Madrid is committed to bringing the public closer to less visible artistic disciplines that, however, house some of the most groundbreaking and current contemporary languages to contribute to their knowledge and value.
