Art Madrid, February 2011

In this sixth edition, some sixty prestigious art galleries –handpicked by the renovated Selection Committee- will showcase the works of their major contemporary artists. It’s all about trying to provide the public with top-quality proposal that’s up to par with past editions. Among Spain’s top art galleries attending the fair, some of the finest are Joan Guaita (Majorca), Saro Leon (Canaries), Punto, Trinta, May More, Estampa, 3 Punts, Fernando Latorre and Alonso Vidal, among others.

In its interest in fostering art collection, Art Madrid 2011 has outlined a specific program aimed at contemporary art collections. In addition, the event will gather, for a third year in a row, the Young Art program embracing emerging galleries and artists. Based on the tremendous success reaped in previous editions, this program is penciled in as one of the fair’s major attractions. On the other hand, the Unique Piece Art Madrid Collection program will be coming around once again, whose stocks will accrue with the acquisition of artworks created by some of the participating creators.

From Feb. 16 to 20 next year, Art Madrid –considered Spain’s second-largest fair in terms of both outreach and turnout- will once again be lodged at the Crystal Pavilion of Madrid’ Casa de Campo. As many as 45,000 visitors are expected to walk past the turnstiles.
