Sotheby´s Paris. Icons of Contemporary Photography

On 8 November 2019, Sotheby's Paris will be holding a Photographs auction coinciding with the Paris Photo international art fair.

This auction will include a selection of 30 exceptional photographs from the collection of Fondation Francès. The results of the auction will finance the future philanthropic initiatives, events and programs of a foundation which encompasses, ten years after its creation, 600 works of contemporary art.

Highlights will include: one of the first daguerreotype images of Notre-Dame de Paris achieved by Vincent Chevalier in 1840, a year after the public announcement of the discovery of photography (50,000  - 70,000), the quality-museum Double portrait of Francis Bacon by Richard Avedon (30,000  - 50,000 ), the arresting picture I've Got It All (40,000  - 60,000 ) by British artist Tracey Emin as well as Untitled Film Still #16 by Cindy Sherman for the first time offered at auction.

A second sale, exclusively on sothebys.com, will also be held from 30 October to 14 November 2019, offering works by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Brassaï.
