In 2012, the Guggenheim Bilbao presented the artist's monumental landscape exhibition David Hockney: A Bigger Picture. That same year, Hockney left his native Yorkshire to return to Los Angeles. In portraiture he found the calm of quiet contemplation; beginning in the summer of 2013, he created what would become a series of more than 90 paintings, 82 of which are presented in this exceptional exhibition.
