Evan Penny's (b. 1953) hyperrealistic sculptures are firmly rooted in the artist's longstanding interest in the human body and on how viewers perceive and experience their relationship with themselves and others. While the artist has expanded his sculptural repertoire to include references to art from other eras, Evan Penny: Ask Your Body primarily emphasizes the visceral manner in which viewers experience the works, with monumentally-scaled sculptures best described as meditations on the condition of being human.
