Alejandro Campins' “Reliquia”

Raymaluz Art Gallery will be hosting on Thursday May 9 the grand opening of a solo show by Alejandro Campins, a young Cuban artist graduated at Havana’s Higher Institute of Art, who has already carried out six individual exhibitions and has participated in several art events.

His painting, with a style that recalls the bad painting, is characterized by large formats and colored planes, so it could be linked to Caspar Friedrich’s work, Italian Trans avant-garde, German New Savages and, especially, Martin Kippenberger.

In 2009 Campins showcased in this very space his En la cola del cometa exhibit, and now the creator returns to Madrid to show his latest paintings under the title Reliquia (Relic).

The collages that make up the display reflect a critical intention that flirts with politics and ideology through suggestive texts. This time, the artist also exhibits drawings and stone interventions.
