Italian artists to exhibit at Havana’s Galleria Continua

Havana.- Loris Cecchini, Ornaghi, Prestinari and Giovanni Ozzola are the four Italian visual arts creators that will join their works in the show Tú+Yo=Nosotros, that will be inaugurated on January 9, 6:00 pm, at Havana’s Galleria Continua gallery.

Tú+Yo=Nosotros gets here as an expansion of Anclados en el Territorio, an exhibit that gathered the art of six Cubans: Alejandro Campins, Elizabeth Cerviño, Carlos Garaicoa, Susana Pilar Delahante Matienzo, Reynier Leyva Novo and José Yaque. It was exhibited for the national public since last November 27 at Galeria Continua too.

According to executives of the cultural institution, the first of its kind in Cuba, this exhibit constitutes an ode to the pleasure of knowing, sharing and socializing with the other one.

Therefore the Mediterranean creators will introduce site-specific works in the present show to exchange with those who inaugurated this new space, located at the former Aguila de Oro movie theatre in Havana’s Chinatown.

This cultural center, resulted from the bonds created by Italian artists that, like Mihelangelo Pistoletto visited the country during the 12th Havana Biennial, tries to bring, together with the National Council of Visual Arts, four times a year, foreign authors of the project’s original list.

Galleria Continua poses an artistic view away from the canon and out of the most important gallery spaces, which is presented, even, in the selection of its bases, all of them out of the usual artistic circuits, like an abandoned movie theatre in San Gimignano, an old factory in Beijing or near a river in France.
