Grey Skull, an art work of Okuda for Art Madrid´18

Art Madrid gives its visitors the opportunity to acquire an exclusive art work of Okuda San Miguel, Grey Skull, signed and numbered. An icon of urban art that you can take home.

As every year, Art Madrid chooses an artist whose work represents innovation, experimentation and the search for new plastic languages to be the Guest Artist of the fair. In past editions, the fair had exceptional names such as Ouka Leele, Riera i Aragó or the essential Carmen Calvo and for the 13th edition, a magic figure without a doubt, the fair wanted to have an universal symbol signed by the hand of one of the more international urban artists, Okuda San Miguel.

Representative of the so-called "new contemporary art" for Okuda San Miguel the skull is an artistic element that has been repeating throughout his career. Even before entering into his characteristic geometric world, the skull was already there, so Okuda's own style has been developed in parallel to how this historical icon has changed in his works. This skull is also a metaphor of capitalism and its tools of indoctrination from the earliest childhood, and so the image is associated with the image of Mickey Mouse. A piece that encompasses an entire philosophy of life and a declaration of intentions.
