Design Miami/ Basel

In June 2013, Design Miami/ Basel will be celebrating its 8th edition in its new premises on Hall 1 Sud, part of the new hall that’s home to the permanent exhibition, designed by Swiss architect Herzog & de Meuron. This is a decision that allows for “the fair to have its own galley program in the future and get site specific design projects going, cut out for each and every edition,” said fair director Marianne Goebl.

Design Miami/ Basel is not only a marketplace for design, but also a vortex of experiences in which the world’s major art galleries present furniture exhibits from the 20th and 21st centuries. In fact, by consciously expanding its program, Design Miami not only intends to meet the demand for high-quality, well-finished designs, but also to include modern and contemporary layouts designed by industry professionals, enthusiasts and artists.

Each fair gathers the most influential collectors, gallery owners, designers, curators and critics from around the globe to celebrate the culture of design and commerce. Throughout the Art Basel fairs held in Miami in December and in Basel, Switzerland in June, Design Miami has turned out to be a top-of-the-line event to showcase, discuss and create collection-oriented designs. Each exhibit comes in as an exclusive commercial opportunity with a progressive cultural program, generating exciting collaborations among designers and institutions engaged in designing, architecture, arts and fashion, let alone with a unique commission from the best designers and architects from around the world, both emerging and veterans.
