The National Hotel It is inscribed on the Memory of the World Register. This distinction awarded by UNESCO in 2010, was conferred for the first time to a hotel to which the Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier called the "Enchanted Castle". It has been declared a World Heritage Site and National Monument of Cuba, and it is considered one of the twenty five Palace Hotels of the World.

A German watch of 1897 welcomes you to the lobby, along with three other Americans watches of the early twentieth century. From the decade of the thirties, by its original floors, manufactured specifically in Seville, illustrious guests walked, including heads of state, notorious gangsters and artists like Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan), Buster Keaton, Ava Gardner, Jorge Negrete, María Félix , Libertad Lamarque, Rita Hayworth, Errol Flyn, Josephine Baker, Walt Disney and Marlon Brando.

Over three hundred heritage pieces make the National Hotel on a sui generis art museum. You can admire photos, paintings, antique clocks; sit on English furniture; appreciate art-nouveau lamps, French Sevres porcelain, ornaments maya ceramics, paintings by Cuban artists in the early decades of the century and Carrara marble statues in the style of The Venus of Mercy, located in the arbor of the building. Its eclectic architecture is majestic: styles such as Art Deco, Neoclassical and Moorish merge.

Its dome is topped with large chess pieces in honor of Master José Raúl Capablanca, admired as World Champion in the Hall of Fame. Since then celebrities from around the world do not ceased to stay: Gabriel García Márquez, Kevin Costner, Steven Spielberg, Naomi Campbell, Robert de Niro ...

With 439 rooms on seven floors, the National Hotel is the flagship institution of the Wider Caribbean Group, and its Five Star are well given.
