The 39th edition of the Caribbean Festival had its inaugural gala. The historic Heredia Theater of Santiago de Cuba was filled with joy to receive the event that reveres the six decades of the triumph of the Revolution and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
After the opening speech of Orlando Vergés, director of Casa del Caribe, those of the Hon. Mr. Eduardo Lorier, ambassador of the sister nation that moved those present: "To the beloved people of Santiago a solidarity hug and tell you that the odyssey to come showed us that we can, as you could 60 years ago to defeat tyranny and how They have been able to face a cruel blockade".
Later, the tribute to the popular singer Eduardo "Tiburón" Morales Orozco, exceptional vocalist for his unquestionable contribution to Cuban popular music in general, and Santiago especially and the expected performance of a luxury cast that in two hours of show proved that the Culture is the best bridge to unite our peoples.
