Chile- Europe Jazz Festival Adorns Spring Nights in Santiago

Santiago de Chile.- Spring nights in Santiago, warmer and warmer, are adorned this week by the 8th Chile/Europe Jazz Festival, a mouthful of music by foreign and national artists.

Open to the public free of charge, the event registers the participation of groups from Germany, Portugal, France, and Switzerland, from the foreign side and four young Chilean groups of a genre that is quite popular in the southern country.

In fact, the neighborhood chosen for the concerts is Bellavista, an area where restaurants and bars abound, many of them animated by jazz, and also the Cultural Institution Violeta Parra.

The German trio Grunen, with the outstanding drummer Christian Lillinger, leader of a style with an emphasis on jazz percussion, and the Chileans of Sanhattan opened the meeting, which will last until next Friday.

Sanhattan is inspired by the Zero Gravity project of the award-winning American saxophonist Wayne Shorter. It was a good creativity attempt of new musicians who still need hours of travel.

A fresh vision of the be-bop stands out in the French trio Un poco loco, while the Portuguese singer Maria Joao moved the audience accompanied by the Brazilian guitarist and composer Guinga, a mixture of fado and poetry.

Swiss-Albanian singer Elina Duni and British guitarist Rob Luft complete an intimate dish, in contrast to traditional Retaguardia Jazz Band and its New Orleans-style jazz show.
