Since 2009, the Modeling Academy of Acting, Cuban Performing Arts Artistic Agency, given the need to renew the models that represented from the fashion house of Havana: La Maison, set a course for training mannequins.
Designed as a theoretical and practical course for men and women over 18 years, with specific physical qualities in terms of height, always higher than 1.85m and 1.75m respectively, ensures a comprehensive training as a fashion model, hostess and hostesses of events.
Its frequency is annual, from February to August, with graduation in September. It has an enrollment of about 120 students, who receive three main subjects: Modeling, conducted by the teachers Juan Carlos Marrero and Mercedes Aguirre; Protocol and Social Behavior, by Clarisa Perez, all of them former models, and Culture and Identity by the degree in History and Social Sciences Jorge Luis Frias, director of Acting.
In the course, students have the opportunity to visit museums, enjoy the screening and critical analysis of films and documentaries related to the history of Cuban and international fashion.
Future models will also receive illustrated lectures of hairdressing and makeup by stylist Pedro Diaz, and image offered by photographers Angelo and Boris, who are responsible for the photography sessions and design of digital catalog of the agency, from which graduates are part of and directors and artistic producers have access to, as well as clients who require services for certain events.
Such is the case of the Habana Libre Hotel, who organizes weekly fashion shows and events like Art and Fashion, FIART and Habana Moda, where professional services of Modeling Acting Academy are hired.
