The MPBA, a Co-production Company at the Performance Biennial

For the first time in the history, Argentine will have its Perofrmance Biennial, edition 2015, San Juan’s locals will have the opportunity to take part of this kind of experience since this province will be one of the venues for such activity.

 

The Franklin Rawson Fine Arts Museum will participate as a co-production company of the Biennial along with BP.15, ArteBA, Casa del Bicentenario, Experimental Center from the UNSAM, Fortabat Collection, Proa Foundation, IUNA, Museum of Contemporary Art in Mar del Plata MAR, Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires (MACBA), National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA), National Museum of Fine Arts Neuquén, Parque de la Memoria, Time 4 Fun and the University of Buenos Aires UBA-FILO.

 

This event will take place from April 27 to June 7 in Buenos Aires, Neuquén and San Juan. Outstanding artists will attend the veent such as Marina Abramovic, Marta Minujin, Laurie Anderson, Sophie Calle, Tania Bruguera, Nicola Costantino, Jorge Macchi, Amalia Pica, among others. They will be part of the performance activities involving some artistic practices focused in the use of the body.

 

In that sense, one of the objectives of the Performance Biennial is to show the different expressive possibilities in the artistic language with a great tradition in that country, which reached high levels of popularity in Argentine during the 60’s and the 70’s.

 

Some details about the events that will take place from April 27 to June 7 are given now:

 

  • Regional Program for performances projects. Through a call, the MPBA Franklin Rawson will select some projects, which have the purpose to develop the performance works in the public space. The call is opened to all the artists of the country and the selected performances will be carried out in May at the San Juan Museum. The bases can be requested through museobasj.produccion@gmail.com.
  • International educational activities. In the framework of the Performance Biennial 2015, the museum will give again the workshop by international artist and performer Marina Abramovich during her stay in Argentine. On the other part, the performance recital that Laurie Anderson will give at the Opera Theater, will be screened later.
  • Visit to San Juan. Artist Ana Gallardo will come the province to carry out one of her most important performances for the local public. This activity will take place at the hall of the Museum on June 2nd at 20:00 local time
  • Draws and travels to participate at the Performance Biennial. The museum as a co-production company of BP15, will give two tickets draw lots to participate in person in the seminar given by performer Marina Abramovich plus two tickets to attend the recital by Laurie Anderson in Buenos Aires. Also, they will give a round-trip ticket to travel to Buenos Aires for each tickets winner. The winners are responsible for the rest of the expenses. Those interested should go to the museum venue from 12:00 to 21:00 and fill a voucher with personal information and place it in the urn until April 12 in the ongoing year. The results will be announced and published in the third week of April, after the draws are carried out before the notary public.
  • Accessions: Within the framework of the BP15 the "30.000 Theater Provincial Festival of memory" organizing the National Institute of Theater (INT) will be carried out in its eight edition. In this opportunity the works invited to the festival and the performance will take place in the public spaces around the museum and the Parque de Mayo
