ABSTRACT POSSIBLE

Until Aug. 7, the Tamayo Museum will present the recently-opened Abstracción Possible / Abstract Possible, a collective exhibit within the framework of the Microhistories & Macroworlds series.

The exhibition includes such boldface artists as Goldin+Senneby, Liam Gillick, Mai-Thu Perret, Seth Price, Jose Leon Cerrillo and Claudia Fernandez, who will be reevaluating and interpreting crucial aspects of abstraction, a concept that has been solely pigeonholed into the predominant narrative since the 20th century.

This project, headed by curator Maria Lind, will take place throughout a couple of years in different location, in the form of workshops, projections, seminars, individual presentations and websites.

As the press release sent by the institution reads, “Abstracción posible / Abstract Possible zeroes in closely on the concept of retraction, which questions and lays bare the possibility of more freedom and creation of spaces to self-generate initiatives in the field of cultural creation.”

The Tamayo Museum will present the exhibits entitled La exposición se desvaneció sin dejar rastro (The Exposition Faded Out without a Trace) (April 9 to June 31) by Roman Ondak, and The Fire Escape, by Monika Sosnowska (April 9-Aug. 7).
