Havana: Dolores Caceres, Alexandre Arrechea, Sara Hooper, Marcelo Boullosa, Eduardo Costa, Horacio Zabala, are some of the Latin American artists contained in the ninth issue of the Arte por Excelencias magazine, scheduled to be presented by Dr. Magaly Espinosa this Thursday at 5:00 pm at the “Wifredo Lam” Center for Contemporary Art, nestled in Old Havana’s historic center.
With a cover picture featuring Dolores Caceres, the issue’s opener is an essay penned by Margarita Sanchez Prieto, a researcher with the Wifredo Lam Center for Contemporary Art, in which she broaches the Argentine artist’s work.
The magazine takes back sections devoted to architecture –this time around focused on Mexico’s Luis Barragan- as well as the art of collection by means of an interview with Howard Farber. The three permanent sections are still there: book reviews, The Archivist and The Caricature (this time with Juan Acevedo Fernandez de Paredes), and it also documents the outreach of an art promotional project like “Alas con Puntas.”
Presented by the Excelencias editorial group at the recently-concluded edition of Zona Maco, issue nine pays tribute to Rufo Caballero, the late Cuban writer, essayist and art critic who was also a contributing writer of this magazine.
