Tercerunquinto with OTROS FUEROS

Castellon: Espai D’art Contemporani displays, through June 26, Otros fueros by Tercerunquinto.

Created in 1998 in Monterrey, Mexico, by Julio Castro, Gabriel Cazares and Rolando Flores, Tercerunquinto has carried out projects related to public and private spaces, by questioning the limits between both of them, disarticulating the elements that make up these systems and dismantling the logical order of their interrelations.

As a collective they look forward to challenge the borders of a system’s constitution and organization, architectural or urban, by examining the implications and effects on personal, social, cultural or political spheres.

Otros fuerosshowcases a selection of six works from the last six years (2004-2010) and it’s a project that was specifically created for the context of Castellon city, which works as approach or prologue for this exhibition proposal.

This selection: Project for MUCA Rome, 2004; Guardarropa, 2006; Vecindad, 2007; Project for Alvar and Carmen T. de Carrillo Gil Art Museum, 2008; Economia de solidaridad, 2009 and Borrador, 2010; responds to a conceptual criteria that shows the part of works where the solution of the work is related to other agents.

This selection is accompanied by three ex profeso proposals which come up from the invitation to three curators who are in charge of conceptual and formally translating the documentation related to three works in the exposition. The new proposals will represent subsequent editions.

The invited curators are: Alvaro de los Angeles, Maria del Carmen Carrion and Daniel McClean who have formal and aesthetically defined one work of Tercerunquinto. The collective has gotten far from this process and has transferred the responsibility to the curators. This exercise has promoted the reflection in terms of the documentation concept in artworks and editions in the commercial field of art market. From these premises, the museum space becomes the scenery where variations and answers produced by curators are shown, and it’s all related to the documents defined by the collective for the first editions.
