Cuatro horas de crecimiento

The Cuatro horas de crecimiento exhibition, by Spanish artist Elena Garcia Jimenez, will be inaugurated on June 25 at Sicart Gallery.

Elena deals in her project with two perspectives of “growth”, taking into account the study of the imperceptible transformation process of a growing plant, and on the other hand the non-lineal way to get an idea to its final form. The starting point is a video-installation that, through video-animations screened on the object, present a model of artificial evolution, translating the organic shape of a plant into geometrical forms. The almost imperceptible growth is graphically registered in the Intervalo de crecimiento de 53’7 work, introducing the static representation of time and movement.

In conjunction with these works, the approach notes to the studied object are presented in a mural composition, dismissed research lines and failed tests, thus outlining the development of an idea. The exhibition will be open to the public through July 26.

Elena Garcia Jimenez got her degree in Fine Arts in the University from Alcala de Henares, Madrid. She has displayed her works in Norway, Germany and Spain. In 2010, she received the 2011 Generation Award, given by the La Casa Encendida, Social and Cultural Center Caja Madrid. She lives and works between Berlin and Madrid.
