The Caribbean Social Thinking in Casa de las Americas

Registration for the Cycle on Caribbean Social Thinking, organized by the Center for Caribbean Studies of Casa de las Americas –slated for Oct. 24-28, 2011 in Havana- has set a deadline on Oct. 15.

"Actualidad de Frantz Fanon: Hacia un humanismo renovado" is the title of the colloquium pieced together with the help of the foundation named after the French philosopher and writer, and sponsored by the French Alliance and the French embassy in Cuba. It’s in the best interest of the Center for Caribbean Studies to mark the 50th anniversary of Fanon’s passing by creating a space for sharing and debating views on his work among guests, exhibitors and attendees who could talk about his humanism as a way to decolonize knowledge and learning. The event will encourage further discussions on the current status of his thoughts and ideas that stem from the blend of disciplines and cultures hailing from the Americas, Africa and Europe, as well as from linkage between thinking and practice.

Those willing to attend the event should call this number on the screen: (537) 838-2710 or send an email to caribe2@casa.cult.cu.
