MADRID FOTO 2012: Expectations on the Rise

MADRIDFOTO, the art fair specialized on photography, is coming around with its fourth edition at IFEMA, slated June 7-10, 2012. This time around, the event will be directed by Giulietta Speranza and organized by Artfairs S.L., a private initiative from a group of collectors and impresarios led by Enrique de Polanco.

One related news about the fair that has made headlines and ripples is the presence in the Spanish capital of Baron Wolman, a senior photographer with Rolling Stone magazine who documented the golden age of Rock & Roll in the 1960s. Wolman, who captured amazing shots of such legends as Miles David, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison or The Rolling Stones, will deliver a master class in which all participants could relate directly with different highlights of his career.

Baron’s style is marked by informality and simplicity, making use of natural portraits that were bound to be approved first by the artists. His professional career kicked off in West Berlin back in the 60s. His preoccupations made him become a graphic reporter, a decision that prompted him to move to Los Angeles and later to San Francisco. At the age of 30, Wolman started his career in the famous weekly publication.
