International Symposium on Contemporary Art Theory

THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CONTEMPORARY ART THEORY | ISCAT –one of the most theory forums in the region– has been annually held since 2000 and, in 2012, it counted 10 successful editions. Along its history, the ISCAT has gained momentum as a benchmark platform in the international sphere and has become a much-awaited event.

In 2012, ISCAT’s organizational structure underwent some substantial changes and the advising committee was recently renewed in an effort to refresh it and generate new debate formats. The new committee, made up by a multidisciplinary group of specialists, began working in May and has decided to change this edition’s date in order to buy time to structure the committee and ISCAT’s eleventh edition.

The memories of previous editions were put on the table on February 13, 2013, at El Museo Experimental El Eco, where the first meeting with directors of 11th ISCAT took place.

11th ISCAT is set to be held on Sep. 5 – 7, 2013. This edition is going to be ruled by Marcio Harum (BR) and Paola Santoscoy (MX); the new advisory committee is made up of Pablo Helguera, Sol Henaro, Alejandro Hernandez, Benjamin Mayer, Mariana Munguia and Sofia Olascoaga.

ISCAT is a project promoted by PAC to continue the exercise of reflection, exchange and contact among experts in terms of contemporary art and culture. There is going to be further information online on the upcoming edition of ISCAT and the parallel events and workshops.
