Madrid Becomes International Centerpiece of Contemporary Art with APERTURA 2013

On September 19 – 22, Madrid will once again become the international main stage of the contemporary arts. With APERTURA 2013, nearly fifty simultaneous inaugurations and a comprehensive program of activities in museums and art centers will be fostering Spanish visual creation and cultural industries at national and international levels.

The shows, handpicked by galleries as the season opener, include such international artists as John Isaacs or Dan Flavin, which are combined with solo shows carried out by Spanish Jacobo Castellano or Alicia Framis as classic as Pablo Gargallo. Viewers will also have the opportunity to admire the work of Latin American emerging creators Ximena Garrido-Lecca, Laureana Toledo or Jose Hidalgo, among others.

The fourth edition of APERTURA, organized by ARTE_MADRID association of galleries, follow the lead of events taking place in other important international centers such as Berlin’s Gallery Weekend or New York’s. The event is going to be attended by collectors, experts, art advisors and curators from all over the world.

APERTURA 2013’s program includes visits to private art collections, walking tours around the galleries, as well as guided visits to Reina Sofia National Museum Art Center or Dos de Mayo Art Center.

Furthermore, a meeting with the media is going to be held on September 10, 11:00h, at Reina Sofía National Museum Art Center, with the participation of artists, gallery owners, collectors and sponsors.


Además, el 10 de septiembre a las 11:00h. se celebrará en la terraza del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía un encuentro con los medios de comunicación en el que participarán artistas, galeristas coleccionistas y patrocinadores del evento.
