August 20 Sets Deadline to Join Wilfredo Prieto’s Creative Workshop

Within its 2013 program, NMAC Foundation tries to be a meeting platform for young artists, to exchange ideas and work methodologies this time with artist Wilfredo Prieto.

“Incidencias de lo privado a lo público y de lo público a lo privado” (Incidences from the private to the public and from the public to the private) is the title of the Artistic Creation Workshop proposed by Wilfredo Prieto, to take place in this Gaditan institution on September 20 - 22.

The main goal of this workshop, just like the previous ones, is to give young artists the opportunity, guided by Wilfredo Prieto, an internationally acclaimed artist, to live an experience translated into creative stimulus. The workshop is an effort to have the attendees going deeper into their work, improving it and reflecting on the conception of a project by throwing away the limits between the public and the private.

The idea of carrying out these meetings for artists, in the head offices of NMAC Foundation, an art center perched on the outskirts, away from the regular circuits of contemporary art, represents the correction of the existing cultural and territorial imbalance, thus having a national scope of different agents that play leading roles in Spain’s contemporary culture.

Wilfredo Prieto’s work stands out due to its conceptual force, narrative brevity, absence of superfluous elements, references of the artistic practice, and a delicate sense of humor, semantic games and a poetics that features both persistence and subtlety.

A pre-selection will be done out of all the applications received. We will announce the names of the artists chosen to participate in the event, September 1, 2013, by e-mail.

The registration process will be taken place on September 2 – 10, 2013
