El Banquete Collective in Espacio Trapézio

With the beginning of 2013-2014 season, espacio trapézio opens a brand new line of programs aimed at exploring new ways to produce projects. Conceived out of networking and collaborative practices, this new line is going to foster the dynamics of dialogue and participation of artistic and creative collectives with the community of users on this space.

espacio trapézio openly faces this initiative in an effort to print a strong experimental component in terms of methodology and research process. The space is not interested in marking concrete objectives to be achieved, but stating new relations among the cultural agents in the city.

El Banquete has been the first collective invited to intervene, live in, experiment and explore the space and, throughout September and October, it will have a stable presence in the space. This is all about a comprehensive, open and experimental proposal in which El Banquete – just like a recently-graduated collective – faces this kind of space and espacio trapézio offers two months for the different proposals generated by the collective: from the local approach as workshop, the exhibition of its previous production or the development of several public reflection meetings and collective debate.

El Banquete is made up of four artists that recently got their degree on Fine Arts (Alejandro Cinque, Raquel G. Ibáñez, Antonio Torres and Marta van Tartwijk) and, despite of its short two-year experience, the discourse and interest of the collective have been defined through its projects.

The presence of this collective in espacio trapézio represents three working levels: Expo-lab, Las sesiones, and the working space.

El Banquete has structured this opportunity through three ways, having one month and half to work with specific conditions, understanding this work not only as an exhibition, but also as an exploration of previous projects and new methods to work in order to establish and expanding new networks of knowledge, dialogue and critic thinking.

This activity counts on the collaboration of the Fine Arts Faculty of UCM, Madrid.
