Peruvian Artist Grimanesa Amoros’ “Fortuna”

Grimanesa Amoros (Lima, 1962), one of the most outstanding contemporary Peruvian artists, will be presenting on Saturday September 14, her first exhibition in Spain, specifically in Tabacalera. Espacio Promoción del Arte (Madrid).

Fortuna (Fortune) is the name of the installation to be displayed in this space, which is inspired in the history of this ancient factory and takes cigars as socializing element.

The artist has developed this site specific work by creating a labyrinth of lighting tubes as a symbol of the link between things, thus forming a light sculpture, an element that gives the opportunity to share an experience.

Displayed in the hall of La Fragua de Tabacalera, this project takes its name from Fortuna cigarettes and their packing cases and filter paper, since the artist saw them during her previous visit.
