Within the framework of its 25th Culture Festival, Cayena Cultural Center, Universidad del Norte, is going to hold – October 23 to 27 – 2013 BIA (Art Biennale in Espacio Publico) with “Punto de Encuentro” as theme, in an effort to position art as platform to create meeting experiences in the city and develop action dynamics that invite to reflect on the conflicts and conditions of public spaces in Barranquilla District, thus contributing to the construction of a culture for its recovery and activation through art.
The Biennale is set to deal with five components related to the meeting idea: Interacting (focalized interactions and implication workshops), Happening (special projects), Finding (meeting spot), Thinking the Public (3rd International Art Forum in Espacio Publico) and Positioning (public painting). The last one tries to promote what seems to be an urban painting movement in the city and to create, with this event, a meeting platform for every modes of this kind of expression.
