Santo Domingo’s Museum of Modern Art to Launch Program in October

The Ministry of Culture, in association with the Museum of Modern Art, has announced its program of ludic and theoretical events for October and the 27th National Biennale of Visual Arts – Santo Domingo 2013.

 

On Friday October 5, the Museum of Modern Art’s Auditorium will be hosting lecture Author Rights on Visual Arts: Artistic Work and Mere Photography”, by Edwin Espinal. Followed by “Night of Classics”, with the acclaimed artist Aisha Syed accompanied by the outstanding pianist Ciro Federé.  

 

Friday 11 offers “Social Dimension of Art Talk”, by Laura Gil and Delia Blanco, at the Museum of Modern Art’s Auditorium. At 8:30, music with “Ethnic Night”, by Duluc and Guerreros at the frontal open area.

 

The Auditorium is set to house, on Friday 18th, “Sculpture and Installation at the Dominican Republic Talk: Present and Future”, with the participation of Gamal Michelén, Odalis Pérez, Myrna Guerrero and Raquel Paiewonsky. Afterwards, “Rock Night”, with Diego Mena at the frontal open area.

 

The program continues on Friday 25th, 7:00 p.m., with “Drawing at the Dominican Republic Talk: to Strengthen a Vital Expression”, with Virginia Goris, Mildred Canahuate and Bigene Armenteros. Onda Sonora will be in charge of the “Electronic Night”, at the Spanish Backyard, 8:30 p.m.

 

The educational events include “The Biennale: Analyzed by Children”, in an effort to attract children to the 27th National Biennale of Visual Arts by promoting and encouraging the approach, enjoyment and appreciation of arts. 

 

The 27th National Biennale of Visual Arts will be open to the public every day, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., and Fridays until 10:00 p.m., at Dominican Republic Museum of Modern Art, nestled in Av. Pedro Henríquez Ureña, Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte.
